5 Mistakes You Need To Avoid When Blow Drying Your Hair

We are not a pro in blow drying our hair on a regular basis, even if a magnificent dryer is out or available in the market ensuring the hair strands are not weakened during its usage. But we do know the luxurious touch and feel it can impart to the hair. However, getting blow drying done at home even using a professional dryer will serve you no good as we end up with a fizzy finish every time. So, it’s incumbent to figure out the mistakes while doing so, be it at home or salon, after all it’s a hard task at hand to prevent hair from further damages.

Five Mistakes To Avoid While Blow Drying Hair

1. Not Using & Applying Product – Use heat protectors for prepping up and protecting your hair against the heat and tension damage. Variety of products is available in the market, and it’s recommended to opt for one depending on your hair type and texture. Choose a lightweight formula if you’ve fine hair, or the product will weigh you down. Have a talk with your hairstylist to guide you through.

2. Not Sectioning Hair-Take one or two inches of sections of your hair. Mimic the same move as sectioning hair prevents frizz, also making the blowout manageable, less tiring and frustrating.

3. Not Drying Hair a Little Bit – Pat your hair dry a bit before you section hair and give it a full blast heat. If you blow-dry your hair, while soaking wet, you run the risk of burning hair resulting in further damage. Let your hair lose at least 30-40% of moisture before going ahead with styling.

4. Not Using Proper Brush – Know your hair brushes to get the desired results. If your hair is fine and needs some volume, try out metal brush, which heats up adding volume and movement to your hair. For medium hair, use natural boar (or natural) bristle brush for smoothening and adding shine, giving your hair a body and texture. For coarse or curly hair, use brush having both boar and plastic bristles, enabling you to get a grip of hair and be able to tame it, adding texture.

5. Holding Dryer in Wrong Position – Hair dryer positioning requires some attention. You need to know how far you would require holding it away from hair. Hold dryer in pretty close proximity to hair without actually touching it. If dryer repeatedly touches the hair, then it can lead to damage over time.
